Wow life is flying.....

It has been a while since I posted last, life has been flying by fast...here is a snapshot of life since my last post..

Work, Work, Work
Making Xmas presents, I knitted scarves for a lot of people and did a mixed media piece for my niece
Cleaned the house more than once!
Went to Vegas for a week..that was fun.
Organized the basement and one closet.
Baked for xmas
Had a great family over for a visit, lov u Kat!
Fell down the stairs and busted up my tailbone....youch!
Had my family here for about a week for Xmas.
Cooked and cooked...and ate and ate
Made a few layouts for The Scrapping Nook.
Prepared an online mixed media class....starting soon.

I am sure there was a lot more, but those are the high lights of November and December. Here are the layouts that I did for the Nook.......using Teresa Collins paper I started documenting Vegas!

Isn't this the cutest banner for Halloween? It is made with Kelly Panacci's new products! As usual they are great and so many different things you can buy. I made this banner this weekend with the Spotted Canary School kit, by Kelly Panacci. Been working on this awhile and have not had a chance to post. Not sure where I am going to put all these, but love the creative outlet they bring...next up a piece to give to my niece who has been requesting one...in purple and hot pink.

For my niece and nephew! I used a valentine line and a Halloween line....which is totally suitable.

Summer and Scrappin'

Summer and Scrappin' do not go hand in hand.....I seem to slow down on my scrappin' a bit when the sun heats up. We seem to be on the boat every weekend or doing something outside. Also, my scrapbook has been hot, hot, hot this summer. Unfortunately not with activity, but the heat sits in my loft..so if I do something I sweat it out at the same time. I have a mixed media piece almost done as well. Will post that shortly as soon as it is done.

My first image transfer of Coke bottles that I had taken a photo of earlier this year. Still do not have the hang of this image transfer technique, I must have tried 6 times to get this one...oh well, I guess that is what it is all about, learning how to do it! Hope you enjoy this, it has grown on me over time. Well off to post my first Alterd Project piece on the blog, come on over, it is some thing summery and in the colours of the day!!

Not a lot of time lately to be creative, but when I have had some I have been picking up a paint brush, cutting a bit of paper and doodling a bunch. Having fun making something different than scrapbook pages. Not sure if I am totally in love yet with them but they make me happy since they are such a messy adventure! This one I promised a while back, I named her Heidi. The second one has grown on me and the third one I am not sure of, some parts I like others not so much.

Well off to clean up my studio! I took a picture I'll post this week, looks like a whirlwind went through her.

I am taking this on line course in Mix Media. It is by Christy Tomlinson...most amazing woman to watch how she creates these art pieces. I have been playing. Hard for me to be messy but I am finding this kinda...freeing..what ever happens, happens.....

Something New - Mixed Media

Well the time has come for me try to do something new and creative. It is Mixed Media....a little of this, a little of that and voila! I have combined, paint, gesso, puffy cream, inks, sprays, tissue paper, rubons, etc to do these. It is so much fun to do, messy, messy, messy but oh so freeing! I did one at SF last week and then when I got home did another...I am itching to do more but want to go get some gesso and more canvases first. So here they are so for they are titled #1 and #2..This is soooooo not me, but I feel it can so be me if I let it all go! Let me know what you think.

Have a great time at Scrapfest last weekend with all my friends and acquaintances there. No scrappin done but a lot of chatting, shopping, eating and laughing. Thanks everyone for a great weekend! Playing Along at NVS Again...

I have been playing along at NVS again. Each month they have a challenge to scrap along with using their inspirational collage. This month it was this great mix of images. You take what you want from it and incorporate it into your layout.

Here is mine. The colours got me and decided to use my niece as the photo. A few other items were the flowers, the & and the butterflies. This is a 6 x 12 layout, I like this size when I have tiny pictures. Hope you enjoy. Wish me luck, I am hoping they pick me to be a guest designer at the site! Next month come and see what is posted and play along with everyone. There is a prize as well each month to the lucky one that is chosen.

Not a lot of time today to do anything Scrappy today..but just wanted to share a bit of scrappy news...

Check out Scraptime today. It is a video that was made at CHA for all the Canadian Retailers they had an event for. When you get to section 4:54 you will see my creations on the table and Kelly mentions my name! How cool is that..thanks Kelly again for letting me play with your stuff!

Well we have been away in Cayman Islands for the last little while, so no chatting on my normal haunts lately...but it has not been without some scrappy news. While I was away I had a few emails...

Well not as productive as I wanted to be but did pretty good with the virtual crop over at My Scrapbook Nook. Here are the remainder of items I created for some of the challenges. A name tag introducing myself, a family monogram, a card (more Kelly Panacci products!, look for them at CHA perusing the show...and a layout featuring the theme "timeless treasures". Had fun making this one, I so love flowers....so that is it for this weekend. Off to work tomorrow again...

I have been playing with the new line of papers from Kelly Panacci and K&Company. Wow, love the colours, so fun to make not only Valentine gifts from but can be used for general romance and for girly projects...There are so many coordinating products to go with it from bling, chipboard, rub ons, pins, etc. It was hard to decide what to use and make. All of these I used multiple items from different packages. If you like what you see check out Michaels, Two Peas, Spotted Canary and other online stores that sell it.

Here are two cards that I made with the Die Cut pad as a base.

Here is a layout, I could not decide which paper to us, so I used a lot of them...and just so you know this is NOT all of them....there are way more to choose from.

and I think this is my favourite, it started off a this....

and turned into this....I love when I find some packaging that is too great not to use again! I played up the graphics that were already printed on the box.

NVS Challange for January

Here is my take on the collage. I mainly lifted the colours, pink, white and black, but added a few girly hints as well as roses and butterflies...how fitting for pictures of a rat, eh! teehee

Hope everyone has started off the new year on the right foot. Today we are going out to lunch with a couple friends and their kids and then for a walk. Can anyone say photo op? \

Here is a quick layout from last night, using up one of those tiny photos I get of the kids from school. Decided to make a small layout with it, just 6 x 6. I also used some Websters Pages vellum and some bits and pieces from the paper as well. Can't seem to get enough of that paper lately.. and I have this thing for feathers lately too!

I had so much fun making these for the Websters Pages Design Team call. LOVE there papers and embellies so pretty. I love all the detail on the papers and the layering effect you can get. The embellishments are great as well, so detailed and purdy...I wish I could get my hands on some more of the ones I can't seem to find anywhere. Oh well I will keep my eye out. So the good news, today I got my 5th Anniversary Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine. Not only is it the 5th Birthday for the magazine I got to participate in this edition. I was asked to be in Passport to Creativity. So there is a short bio, interview and some of my creations in the mag...whoohoo thanks CS for asking me to participate. If you get a chance pick up the mag and check it out...oh once again HAPPY BIRTHDAY CS!

Jetpens Project 2!

A very simple card made with a product from Jetpens. They are Japanese paper flowers. This is what they look like before use...

See that fine blue line around the edge? that was made with this pen, man is it ever fine tipped....if your one of those people that line fine line pens, check out the wide variety of pens at JETPENS. I think I fell in love with this pen. Pilot HI Tech C Gel Pen, .40. Nice and fine, but if you like finer, they have it in .25 as well..

I can not wait...in two weeks or so Winter Canadian Scrapbooker will be on the shelves. I am so excited to see it. Not only is it the 5th Anniversary of the magazine, I was able to do a special spot in the magazine as well. And I am none the less excited to see it. Keep an eye out for it....

My Scrapbook Nook Kit

I decided a while back to start getting the monthly kit from My Scrapbook Nook. I love them. Here is my first creation with part of the kit and some of my stuff added to it. I really have to carve out some time to play more with it....cause there is another one on its way and it is even more wonderful....hope everyone is having a wonderful fall...keep coming back I have about 3 more layouts to post in the next day or so...

First Project with my JETPENS package

Over the next few weeks I will be posting a few projects I made with some items that were sent to me from Jetpens. You should check out their site, so many great products that can be used in scrapbooking, card making and altered items. They specialize in pens and Japanese stationary supplies, but have so many other items as well that can be incorporated into your artwork.

I made this card and went all out using various techniques and tools! The card base was done with my Cuttlebug and an embossing folder. I used my favourite stamp, the koi and water from Kodomo Inc, on this card. The image was stamped on this wonderful paper I stumbled on this weekend, called Superstock from Canadian Scrapbooker. I wish I had a picture for you....it can ordered directly from CS directly...it comes 36 pages of 130 lb white and is the best paper to ink, spray, paint, colour on.....doesn't warp or curl...you get the idea..best darn cardstock going for stamping, inks, painting...

I coloured the water in with a blue Copic and the fish with orange and green Tombow markers. Covered the fish in glossy accents to make it shiny like it is in the water.

I use these scissors to cut the fish out, they are nice and sharp and good a sturdy. Seem to work on a lot of types of materials, including ribbon. I find that my Cutterbee's are great for paper, but when it come to ribbon, not so much.

I also used these scissors to make the white background with fringe edge. The combination of the thick paper and the scissors made an interesting fringe, which curled stiffly to one side. These are the coolest scissors to use, 7 blades in all.

My good friend Catherine, from Scrapbook and Cards Today gave me one of these little babies to test drive while I was at the Creative Festival this weekend. I love it, need I say more, anything to do with bling I love....I have to run out now and get some more of the Hot Rocks and Glam Rocks for more projects. The glam rocks are adhered to the water for a little sparkle.

I have been browsing this website and have picked out a few things to use and incorporate into my scrapbooking and cards. Head over to the site and check out the ENORMOUS amount of pens, markers (yes COPICS too), stationary and scrappy supplies from Japan..Love everything and totally intrigued with the pens and inks they have. There are some brilliant artists here too, make sure you check out the picture section of the website...

Best of all shipping is $5 to the US, fee shipping over $25. To Canada it is $5 for up to a half pound and that is A LOT of pens!

New edition is on the shelf, Sept 1. I was asked to do SWAK again this time around with Adorn IT products. It was fun and I have three cards in the section using the products, check out this section of the magazine for 6 other great cards as well! The mag is stuffed full of great art as well. Check out the article written by Sue Sykes on For the Love of Pink, it is really inspirational!

Also one of me being silly or cheesy, DH told me to pose on my scrapbook desk since it was all nice and clean....so I did, it is a rare sighting of me in a layout! Well last post I was hoping that I would get on the Nook team...no luck though...oh well I will keep trying. I love that site as there are so many great scrapbookers there. Here are a few items I have done recently. This is a picture of a frame that I did with a vacation photo. The bottom one is of my niece sleeping on a big duvet. NVS Envious Challenge!

This is the first time I have played along at the NVS blog. Challenge is to take this collage below and interpret it into your own design.

When I saw the inspiration I knew what I was going to do. I used the colours pink and teal, the cupcakes, the swirls, a girly girl and the printed background into my layout. Funny thing is that the paper back ground in mine is based around love, so appropriate for loving cupcakes!

This is what I made with those adorable glass flowers I made in the last tutorial. I used Kaisercraft Peachy Keen line of paper and embellishments. Flower Tutorial #2 - Glass Flowers

I saw this technique on someones blog a while back,but can not recall who's. So who ever you are, thank you for sharing I enjoyed it. I have done it a bit different than she did, I think, but in the end it has the same effect. It is a great technique to share and pass along.

Start by punching multiple flowers using a couple punches, small, medium and large. I have used the same style in two sizes.

Heat up some UTEE in a melting pot.

Curve the petals up on the flowers using your fingers.

Dip each flowers individually into the UTEE making sure that all areas are coated. Let cool slightly. Don't worry if there are a few blemishes on the surface they will come out later.

Once cool (careful not to burn yourself) push the petals up into position and hold as the flower cools.

Place one flower inside the next and heat with a heat gun until the two stick together and all the small blemishes are gone. Repeat with the small flower.

Finish off with some Kaiser pearls. Attach to project or layout.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial as much as I did. The flowers look like they have been made from glass. You could also do this with flowers that are premade. Keep an eye out I made several of these flowers to attach to a decor project that I just made. I will be posting the project in the near future.

Flower Tutorial #1 - Paper Paper Paper

I hope you enjoy this. I made these flowers from primarily paper and a few bits of bling. I started with a sheet of Kaisercraft pattern paper. I chose one with a big pattern on it, but it does not have to be as you can use a piece of paper that has a repetitive pattern. This is the pattern I started with...

Sakura Park Hanami

Firstly I cut around one of the flowers with my scissors (or you can do it with an exacto knife). I left a white edge around the flower leaves so it would pop more in the end.

Next I started to cut out the same flower but "in pieces" following right on the edge of the design.

Take each piece you cut out and curl the edge of the tip of flower with your fingers.

Put a little glue on the bottom edge of the flower piece and attach to the original flower over top of the matching section.

Continue doing this on more sections of the flower, I did not do every section so it would have higher and lower sections.

Once completed add some Kaisercraft pearls to the center of the flower for more detail.

Here is my finished layout I love the flowers, they are so simple to make yet so affective! I hope you enjoyed this post, please try it and show me what you do! I would love to see it.

Olympic Whirlwind!

Well for those of you that read a while back that I had won a trip to the Olympics I wanted to let you know it was FANTASTIC! We went to 4 hockey games, 2 speed skating, aerials, ice dance and Grouse Mountain. We stayed at the Granville hotel as Coke had it for the whole event and put on a wonderful stay. Lots of great food and hospitality. We got some great swag, clothes and such...great mementos. We went to the cauldron, Open Happiness house, Live City, Olympic store, public market etc. It was a trip that I will never forget. The excitement was infectious and the crowds were crazy....Canada did amazing with 14 Golds amd 26 in total! So much to tell and so little time, I am watching the closing ceremony now. Keep an eye on my blog as I will be posting pics shortly. Hope everyone had an opportunity to watch it at some point and cheer on your athlete's! Keep well and keep cheering for the Paraolympic athletes that are just starting their journey in a few days...bye for now

Word UP!! - Week 2

Well I decided to do a LO a week with a word, saying of phrase that I want to focus on.. the intent is to become a better person and to have a weekly reminder of what I think I need to work on...

So this weeks word was minute...I tend to always be thinking about all the things I have to do, hours, days and sometimes weeks in advance...so time to slow down and take everything a minute at a time and to focus....

Open Happiness!

A while back our company decided to have a contest....we were suppose to take our new jingle "Open Happiness" (push the listen up button, which BTW is so cute) and our "Live Positively " campaign (family, environment, community) and combine them into a creative medium (video, poem, art project) which interprets the song and the program, bringing them together in the most creative way we could....there were 3 fantastic prizes to be won, all VIP trips for you and your significant other to spend 4 nights at the Winter Olympics, which includes a stay at the Granville Hotel, all transportation, food and Olympics tickets, and other items estimated value $12000!!

Well how could I resist my creative soul jumped into action! No one could be as creative as me, right? But, I would be up against a lot of creative marketing folks...so I was a bit skeptical. I spent a whole lotta time planning and executing this little baby, only wish I could show everyone in person so much better in person when you can see the 3D, detail and dimension in it. I am so proud of how it came out and regardless of whether I won or not I had a great time planning and making it. Check out my Open Happiness Album (link Below). It was placed in a decorated box so it was like an exciting present to open for the judges. I wanted it to be fun, on the childish side, incorporating images from work and historical items and recycled items...most of all I wanted it to be whimsical....when you open the box you find an album, the first page opens up to be very simple with our moto on it. Underneath when you open it there is a quasi poem and lyrics that go with the new jingle. When you open this the jingle plays as well. Follow the "film" path through the album from the Spring to Winter....along the way you will see what makes me happy.....leading up to the possibility of being at the 2010 Winter Olympics!!

I wish I could figure out how to insert the slide show here, so unfortunately you have to click on the link and go to flicker to see it....also some of the photos are sideways, (did I ever tell you I am a bit computer challanged!!

Hiatus..

Well seems like I have been on bit of a hiatus lately...I have an issue with my hand and arm which is causing me grief for scrapbooking and being on the computer. I have been trying but it is slow in coming....so here are a few from a few weeks back when I got together with some of my scrappin' buddies... hope you enjoy....come back later this week I got a surprise for you all!

Today was the last sail for the year. It was a nice sunny day but a little cold. Glad we got out but the boat is being taken out of the water this week. Sad, it means an end to the summer and the beginning of winter...

To teach or not to teach...

Well I have been asked for quite a while now to teach a class at my LSS store....I have been waffling on the idea since I can not do it during the week due to work and the weekends are so short. Also I have no idea how to teach!!! or how to put a class together...so I have been thinking about it. I have managed to put one LO together and this week will plan another..So here is a question for you all...what do you like to do in a class and what doesn't work in a class setting? Sorry I forgot about the Blog Candy...well I have to work on it this week and post next weekend...sorry...but I did get a picture of this...It was started about 6 weeks ago at a crop...so is officially the longest layout I have ever done! Well back to work tomorrow, hoping to get some scrapping done this week in the evenings, but we will see it is going to be a busy one! Bye for now have a good week everyone!

I hope some of you have stuck around...I have been a bad blogger of late. Tonight I was cleaning up my scrappy room and ran across some stuff that I am not using...so is anyone up for a little BLOG CANDY??? I will take a pic and post this weekend. I will have to think up of a fun way to give it away...!

Well another weekend has past and here we are having great weather....so have been outside a lot and only scrapbooking a little. I have a couple to show you if I can ever get them photographed. Planning on spending more time soon scrapping and catching up. My LSS has some new stuff in and I am going to head over there this week and check it out. I have a labels 8 waiting there for me as well. I am in need of some scrappin' inspiration as well... please leave a post below with a link to your pages, I would love to come and visit some of your websites!

Trying to get some scrapbooking done seems to be a bit challenging lately. But here is some that I did this weekend. Can you believe it I went to a crop and got ONE LO done!! and a lot of chatting!

Yesterday I had wanted to do some stuff but had a short attention span..so the result was 2 6 x 12 LO's, I think they turned out rather well for such a short period of time!!!

Made this the other day for my DH, not sure he appreciated it!! I thought it was cute!!
